Eddie came into this world as a gift from God to his parents Michael and Jennifer, and sisters, Grace and Natalie on July 31, 2004, while they were living in the Netherlands. He was baptized at St. Vitus Church in Hilversum, Netherlands. Eddie attended St, Margaret Mary School, Bishop McDevitt High School, and The Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA, where he recently earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree.
Eddie’s short life was marked by love. Eddie adored and was truly adored by his parents and sisters. He loved his friends and extended family everywhere and lived a life of quiet joy in everything he did and the people around him. He loved music and puns and jokes and making people feel better through laughter. Most of all, he loved sports. He played basketball for the St. Margaret Mary Spartans and as a Freshman at Bishop McDevitt High School. He then played for the St. Margaret Mary Parish CYO High School basketball team. At St. Margaret Mary and Bishop McDevitt, Eddie developed a love for Track and Field. He became one of the team’s best jumpers while there. At State College, Eddie loved and immersed himself in Penn State’s culture. Eddie joined the Club Track team while pursuing his engineering degree and honed his jumping skills. He would go on to hold 5 of 6 Club track records at Penn State and 2 National Club Track records in his events of High Jump, Triple Jump and Long Jump. While at Penn State Eddie was a 10 time Club Track All American in his three events. Eddie’s Penn State Club Track men’s team won Nationals three years in a row and the women’s team won Nationals his Senior year which made Eddie’s experience truly complete. He was so happy and proud to be a part of that team and loved cheering on and coaching everyone to reach their greatest potential.
Eddie joined the cub scouts with his friends in grade school and rose to the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 36. His Eagle Scout project was the remodeling of the St. Margaret Mary school’s teacher lounge, which he completed to honor the teachers for their courage and love in guiding their students through COVID.
He earned three black belts in Taekwondo.
Eddie was also a beloved lifeguard at Penn Colonial Swim Club where he loved interacting with the patrons and watching over them.
Above all else, Eddie’s Catholic Faith is what defined him and guided him. He truly lived his faith. He was an Altar Server from the time he could be until he went off to college. He even came out of retirement to serve the first mass at the request of one of our newly ordained Priests. He rarely missed mass, ever. He truly walked his faith and wanted all people to experience the fullness of the Catholic Church and to all be perfect and be together for eternity.
