Eleanor Yvonne (Mann) Capataides, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away October 26, 2021, at Hershey Medical Center. Born April 2, 1936, in Colver, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Mary (Rayman) Mann. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Marshall, and is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Peter Capataides; and two daughters, Mary Ann Sim and Katherine Kamowski (Stephen). She was a loving grandmother to Gregory Sim (Lindsay), Benjamin Burdick (Amanda), Andrew Burdick, and Christine Sim; great grandchildren, Kaylee Gaul, Benjamin Burdick, Jr., Johnathan Burdick, and Sophia Burdick. She is also survived by her sister, Pat Hallman, several nieces & nephews, and extended family, Anne Wiebel, who has been like a daughter to her, and her children, Donnie Wiebel (Megan), and Callie Wiebel, to whom she will always be Grandma; and finally, the light of her daily life, her little dog, Sweetie Pie, who could do no wrong in Grandma's eyes.
She is the first to pass of her four best friends who grew up together since birth, and to this day remain close and talk frequently on the phone.
Eleanor came to Harrisburg to work at the state in the mid 1950's, where she met the love of her life, Pete, and raised their family in New Cumberland. Her biggest joy in life was seeing her family happy and together. She enjoyed hosting family & friends, volunteering, politics, antiques, reading, and collecting various collectibles, sewing, music, and in her younger years, dancing. She was the kindest and purest God-fearing soul to grace this earth and God blessed us with incredible memories and a family yearning for more time with her.
Words cannot express the immense sadness her family is currently experiencing, but take solace in knowing that Eleanor lived her best life to the fullest, full of joy and light.
Our deepest thanks to Penn State Hershey Medical Center Heart and Vascular Team for taking wonderful care of our Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.
