Elenore L. Myers

Born April 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Slick Kretchik of Forest City, PA. She spent much of her life in Forest City and Scranton, PA before moving to Harrisburg with her husband and children in 1963. She was proud to be from the “coal region” and to be of Lithuanian heritage.

Known as “Ellie” to her friends and family, her greatest joys were family, the ocean, music and dance. She was a member of the Harrisburg Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, a dance instructor and performer for Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Scranton. She choreographed many local talent shows in Scranton, sang with her dear friends “Banjo” Bob and Elaine Miller and raised her children and grandchildren to share her love of music and dance.

She is survived by her loving husband and soulmate of 57 years, Robert H. a daughter Deborah Myers Welsh of Mechanicsburg, a son, R. Mark Myers, of Harrisburg, sister, Irene McIlwee of Scranton, cousin, Marion Kirwin of Audubon, NJ, 4 grandchildren, Mark, Ryan and Ella Myers and Julia Hollinger, 3 great grandchildren, Jacob, Anna and Mary Myers all of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by her brother John Kretchik and her cousin Ann Fleck.

A mass in celebration of her life will be held at 11:15 am, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg with a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church. Also, a viewing will be held Monday evening, February 21, 2011 at Neill Funeral home, 3501, Derry Street, Harrisburg from 7-9. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
