Eugene H. Staudt Sr., 86, of Susquehanna Twp., passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1929 in Shamokin, PA; he was the son of the late Ira L. and Grace (Snyder) Staudt; and preceded in death by 2 brothers, Orville Staudt and Robert Staudt.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Annabell Staudt; 2 sons, Eugene H. Staudt Jr and his wife, Eileen, of Aiken, SC and Randall L. Staudt and his wife, Marilyn, of Harrisburg; 2 daughters, Kelly S. Lieblein and her husband, Robert, of Harrisburg and Lisa S. Zegzdryn and her husband, David, of Southington, CT; 5 grandchildren, Dylan, Cassie, Cameron, Colby and Maddy; 2 sisters, Arletta Gregg and Ella Alias; brother, Clinton Staudt; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Eugene was a retired steelworker from Bethlehem Steel Co., with 45 years of service and took pride in that he never missed a day of work. He had a passion for cars and also worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He was gifted with the ability to fix any car issue and had many customers in the Harrisburg area who also became lifelong friends. Eugene was a graduate from Lower Paxton High School, class of 1947.
He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face. He was a fan of auto racing, boxing, and football, and also enjoyed watching classic movies. If you were watching a movie with him, he loved sharing his knowledge of the actors with you. In his retirement he enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in school sports and musical activities as well as visiting his daughter and family in Connecticut.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday, November 23, 2015 and also 10:00 AM Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
