
Herman W. Marsico was the son of Gaetano Marsico and Maria (Ferraro) Marsico, born on July 15, 1921, in Steelton, PA. Herm graduated from Steelton High School with the class of 1940. He is a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg and formerly a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Steelton and St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Legion of Mary and served as a Eucharistic Minister for over 20 years, visiting the sick and shut-ins bringing Holy Communion to them.
Herm has been reunited in death with his beloved wife, Anna (Guerrisi) Marsico, who passed away on September 27, 2004. They were married for over 60 years. They are survived by four children; son, Guy, Harrisburg; daughters, Linda Shutts (Kenneth), Harrisburg; Nancy Keffer (Daniel), Hanover and Joan Marsico (Doug Quinn), Lewisberry. They have 6 grandchildren; John Keffer (Tina), Sharon Keffer (fiancé, David Dubs), Allison Krupp (Mathew) and Marie Keffer, Colleen Shutts (fiancé, Brad Baird) and Bobby Shutts. Along with his parents and his dear wife, Herm was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Herm worked at Olmsted Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic; joined the Pennsylvania Home Guard; was an agent for Colonial Life Insurance Company of America; was a Master Barber with a Manager Barber License and was the owner/operator of Herman’s Barber Shop, Steelton; Advertising Manager at the Catholic Witness newspaper; worked for the PA State Senate in Documents and retired from the PA State Senate after having served as Postmaster for the Senate. At the present time, Herm had been a volunteer worker in the AAA Travel Group Department for the past 6 years. On December 8, 2002, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voters Hall of Fame. Along with traveling with his beloved wife, Herm also enjoyed reading, music, sports and gardening.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30 pm Saturday, January 28, 2012 in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Rd., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held 10:30 am to 12:00 noon Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St, Harrisburg.
