Hobart W. “Hobie” Acker Jr., 89, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022, at UPMC of Harrisburg. Born January 27, 1933, in Clearfield; he was the son of the late Hobart W. and Grace R. (Ross) Acker Sr., and preceded in death by his brother, William Acker; and four sisters, Grace Cover, Peggy Walmer, Nancy Acker and Mary Mathis.
Surviving are his two daughters, Tracy L. Acker and Christine M. Acker.
Hobie retired as an electrician from the former Polyclinic Hospital and was a member of the IBEW Local 143. He was avid fisherman and hunter and loved to bowl and golf, especially Thursday mornings at Sportsman’s.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM, Wednesday, until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hobie’s name to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17111.
