

Hugo Protacio Salazar Jr., 88, of Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at home. Mr. Salazar was born September 20, 2011, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Hugo P. Salazar Sr. and Evelyn Howard. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Isabelle Salazar. He is survived by his wife, Arminda Castro Salazar, son, Stephen H. Salazar, daughter, Denise Salazar Bell, 2 sisters, Isabel D’Agostino and Gloria Fidler and brother, Joseph Salazar.
Hugo P. Salazar Jr., graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg in 1940. He joined the Army Air Corp. on June 22, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 22, 1946. He served as a Technical Sergeant with the European Theater at the Central Air Depot Property Branch. In October, 1946, Mr. Salazar returned to the United States. He worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg and continued to serve with the Air Force Reserve from August, 1950 to August, 1953. In December, 1951, he married and lived in Harrisburg with his wife and children. Mr. Salazar worked for the US Postal Service in Harrisburg until he retired.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 12:30am in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg with a viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
