Born April 4, 1946, in Cherboug, France, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Jeannine (Picot) Evans.
Ira is survived by his wife of 52 years, Candace A. Evans; daughter, Nikki Kessler, husband Rick, granddaughters Lydia and Natalie, son Justin Evans, wife Catrina Evans, grandson River and granddaughter Delaney, and daughter Janelle Bingaman, husband Matt and grandsons, Chase and Parker, and brother Harry Evans of Boiling Springs.
He was a retired salesman for Feeser's Food Distributors, with 33 years of service; and served with the PA National Guard during the Vietnam War. He also was a part time employee for Neill Funeral Home for over 50 years.
He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Robert Burns Lodge #464 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Progress Fireman's Home Association, Life member of Lawnton American Legion Post 998 and Verhovay Club, Harrisburg.
Ira enjoyed spending his time with the love of his life, Candy, as well as all of his family. Ira was a avid hunter and fisherman, had a love for playing the Pennsylvania Lottery, and going to the casino. Ira's smile and personality, along with an unwavering desire to give to all around him is what will be remembered most.
A Memorial Service will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 420 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg at 11:00 am on Friday, March 23rd.
Visitation will start at 9:30 am and a masonic service will be held 15 minutes before the church service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania or Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
