

Born in London, England, she was the daughter of the late George and Ellen (Waye) Bailey and the widow of Floyd G. Stong.
She retired from The Merchants and Businessmen’s Insurance Company, Harrisburg, and was an active member of the Trans-Atlantic Brides and Parents Association of Harrisburg. She enjoyed football, baseball, and soccer, and was an animal lover. Prior to becoming a USA Citizen, she served in the Women’s Land Army in her homeland of England.
She is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Jan, of Hershey; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Adelaide, both of Hershey; one brother, Frank Bailey of London, England; three sisters, Ellen Kern of Paxtang, Marion Camp of Currambine, Australia, and Freda Bourne of Darenth, Kent, England; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Bailey.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 10:30 am, in Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a viewing Tuesday, January 18, 2011, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
