Irvin Benjamin Shatto Jr.

Irvin Benjamin "Benny" Shatto Jr., 65, of New Cumberland, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at Holy Spirit Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born January 12, 1951, in Harrisburg; he was the son of the late Irvin B. and Jacqueline (Martin) Shatto Sr; and preceded in death by his daughter, Alicia Marie Shatto.

Benny was a retired corrections officer for the Dauphin County Prison. He graduated from Central Dauphin High School, class of 1970, he was inducted into the Central Dauphin High School Sports Hall of Fame for Track and Field.

Benny enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and teaching his kids to hunt and fish, and he loved and cared for his cats and dogs.

He was a member of the NRA, loved working with wood, and a collector of Antique Furniture.

Surviving is his companion of 27 years, Lisa (Wright) Hess; 3 daughters, Heather Shatto, Carole-Lynn Santos, husband, Richard, and Rebecca Shatto; 2 sons, Joseph B. Shatto, wife, Tabbitha and Irvin B. Shatto III, fiancé, Jalyssa; stepson, Troy Wright; stepdaughter, Ashley Hess; 2 sisters, Barbara A. Blosser, husband, George and Susan L. Danner, husband, Michael; 3 brothers, John M. Shatto, Robert A. Shatto, wife, Sue and Jacques M. Shatto; 9 grandchildren; Lisa's brothers, Ernest and George Wright; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and friends.

Benny cared for his family and friends, he never was selfish, he will be missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. A visitation will be held at 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
