James A. Caggiano, age 74, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Born May 5, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Domenica (Bencivenga) Caggiano.
Raised in Pittsburgh, Jim was a 1962 graduate of South Hills High School in Mt. Washington, PA. He began his career by traveling the country as an Arthur Murray dance instructor, and in 1964 enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany; and upon his honorable discharge in 1967, Jim returned home to work for U.S. Steel until 1969, when he joined the PA State police force. From 1985 to 2004 Jim served under the Pennsylvania Attorney General as Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and Drug Control. In his retirement Jim served in the American Legion Post 272 Linglestown Honor Guard.
He is survived by His wife, Valerie, his sister Carol, brother John and a large, loving family.
Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 17th at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Dr, Camp Hill. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 16th from 5 – 8 PM at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St, Harrisburg.
