I am so saddened to learn of Dr. Prensky's passing. Over the course of 20 years I had seen Dr. Prensky countless times as he monitored and took great care of my vision. He would ask how I was and about my children and we would talk about his cycling. He took the time to get to know his patients. With his expertise and caring heart, I will forever be grateful to have had him as my doctor. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones. He was one of the good ones!

I was visiting my eye doctor's office when I heard the news of Dr. Prensky's passing. My heart breaks for the loss of such a great doctor. I first met him when needing laser surgery and from that moment on whenever there were issues with my eyes Dr. Prensky was the one that calmed me down and assured me that everything was going to be alright, and it was. His kindness and attentiveness to me as a patient will always be etched in my heart of what a great and respectful man he was. May you find comfort in knowing the lives Jay Prensky touched were blessed to be helped by him.

Dr. Prensky was my retina specialist. A few years ago at an appointment in his office it was discovered in my one eye the retina was detaching away from the back wall of my "good eye." Naturally I was concerned due to the main fact I was already blind in my other eye. Dr. Prensky showed no signs of the seriousness of the problem. He sat me down in another office, put some kind of laser device against my face, pointed it into my "good" eye and fired away. He healed my retinas in 5 minutes. When it was over, he looked at me and stated, "I just love my job." From that day forward I loved him as much any patient could love their doctor. I thank the Lord he was a part of my life.

I am staring at this box... wondering how I can put into 2000 letters who this incredible man was. As a 22 year old newlywed, I accompanied my fiance to his appointment, praying that someone could keep his vision intact. Thanks to who amazing doctor, healer, and friend was...28 years later..he is still able to see. Two years ago, John lost vision completely in his left eye and needed surgery, despite delicate surgery and countless laser treatments. Jay restored most of it back. He saw his children grow up. How do you ever thank someone enough. We just heard today, but will be lifting the family up. Much love to you.

Dear Prensky Family,
I had the pleasure of referring my patients to Jay for thirty years. I first met Jay when I was a new graduate from optometry school and moved here from Pittsburgh. He was a great mentor over the years whenever I had an emergency with one of my patients and was always kind not only to me but took good care of my patients. My favorite thing about him was his bow ties and his smile when I would stop by their office. I will miss him as a great colleague. Please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences to your family.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Anne M. Mayer, O.D.
