John Edward Koury
September 11, 1962 – June 16, 2018
On Saturday, June 16, John Edward Koury, of Linglestown, --husband, father, son and brother--passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 32 years, Cheryl A.(Kutchinsky), and his children: John E. Koury, Jr., Linglestown; Danielle Elliott (Jason), New Cumberland; Michael Joseph Koury, at home as well as his parents, John and Rose Koury, Shenandoah; sister, Kathryn Buchanan, Shenandoah; brother, Rev. James J Koury, Boston, MA; nieces Brittany and Erin Buchanan, Shenandoah; grandson, Owin Elliott, New Cumberland. Although they did not start dating until much later, John and Cheryl were born three days apart and grew up in the same hometown of Shenandoah . There is even a picture of the two of them in a playpen when they turned one. After graduating from Shenandoah Valley H.S. in 1980, John went onto the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1984. John worked for Whiting-Turner Construction Company from 1984-1989 and has worked for Quandel Construction Group, Incorporated since 1989 and, most recently, held the position of President and COO. John was highly active in the Holy Name of Jesus Church, serving as Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Religion Education Instructor, a Member of Knights of Columbus Council 14081, a 4th Degree Member of Assembly 3167 in Harrisburg and a TMIY (That Man is You) Member. His faith was an integral part of his life, as anyone who knew him could attest to. He lived his faith and often said, "It's a beautiful day to serve the Lord by serving others." John was devoted to his family. He enjoyed long walks and dancing with his wife, most recently at their daughter's wedding. He had a great sense of humor and a broad smile that he readily shared with anyone he met. He loved to garden and feed the birds in his back yard. John's sudden passing leaves a large hole for his family, coworkers and friends. They will gather to remember him from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, June 22, 2018 at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. A viewing will be at 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018 ay Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Cheryl and family,
So shocked and saddened by John's sudden passing and heartbroken for you. As a nun once told us when our daughter passed, he must have completed his mission here on earth and the good Lord has called him home. From all I hear I believe this is true in John's case. May your loving memories give you peace and if there is anything we can do for you other than offer our prayers, please do not hesitate to contact us. You were there for me when I needed support and I would like to return the favor. God Bless you all!

We are so shocked and saddened to hear of John's passing. We are also sad that we are out of town and cannot pay our respects and condolences to the family. John was a 'larger than life' presence at Holy Name of Jesus church. He was an integral part of the TMIY program, a well respected member of the Knights and contributed in many other ways to the church and the parishioners. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. God Bless. Sue and Ron Smith.

So very sorry to hear of John's passing. The light shone brightly in both of your eyes whenever you were together-you could see it, even if just passing in the halls at CCD pickup. Its hard to imagine how heartbroken you must be. Please take care. Love to you all, our deepest condolences, The Hilty Family (formerly a neighbor of Tiffany Lane)

To the Family of John Koury, I was deeply saddened to hear the news about John. I am counsel to Quandel and worked with him on a variety of matters over the last twenty years. John was always a pleasure to work with and always maintained a good positive spirit about him, even if the issues were difficult to resolve. He will be missed by his professional community dearly and I wish you comfort in knowing that he was loved and admired by many.

Cheryl and Family,
Please accept my sincere sympathy in the untimely passing of John. During my seven years of employment with Quandel, I always enjoyed working with John and the Quandel team. I hope that happy family memories will help you get through these most difficult days and knowing that others share your grief in some small way will give you comfort.
