

Joseph Michael Paese, born in Steelton, PA, on January 28, 1930, passed away August 7, 2012, surrounded by his family after a long illness. Joe was the son of the late Luigi Paese, born in Cosenza, Italy, and the late Belinda Marsico, born in Steelton, and his late brother, Gilbert, began working with their father at his Steelton barbershop at the age of 15 and continued to work together until the early 1960’s. He went on cutting hair from his home in Lenker Manor, a suburb of Harrisburg, transitioning to the real estate business in the mid 1980’s. Joe is a 1949 graduate of Catholic High, now Bishop McDevitt High School, and a veteran where he served his country from 1952-1954, including a tour of duty in Korea.
Joe met his beloved wife Jacqueline Miller in 1947 and the two married in 1954. Joe was the father of 4 sons, Daniel (wife Pam Higgins) of Harrisburg, Thomas (partner Charles Porvaznik) of Washington, DC, Joseph (wife Michele Leo) of Harrisburg, and Michael (partner Blake Kimbrough) of Washington, DC. He was the grandfather of five; Kevin, Steven, Damien, Vince and Morgan; and great grandfather of two; Sophia and Kamden. Joe was a proud member of the Sons of Italy and a longtime member of the Steelton Italian Club.
The family requests visiting hours at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 9, 2012, and also 9:00 am Friday, August 10, 2012 followed with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
