Josephine (Giuseppina) Mazzoni, age 103, a resident of Ecumenical Retirement Community, Harrisburg, died on February 24th, 2024. "Josie" is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends and was preceded in death by her loving parents, Antonio Zanolla and Ida Zanolla; beautiful sisters, Maria Viola and Delia Buser; cherished son, Andrew (Andre) Cechet; faithful husbands, Armando (Nino) Cechet, Joseph Feldman, and Dominic Mazzoni; and devoted companions, Joe Dumaresque and Alfred Lupacchini. She was born on May 3rd, 1920, in Gorizia, Italy, and came to the United States with Andre after Nino's early death. Josie worked for many years as a seamstress at Mary Sachs Department Store in Harrisburg and her patrons included Mamie Eisenhower. Andre's death after two years at Penn State University was a terrible tragedy for her, which she overcame with strong Catholic faith and steadfast support from family and friends. They all fondly remember Josie's beautiful clothing, cheerful countenance, and wonderful meals - which always began with perfect spaghetti! Her funeral is scheduled for 11am on March 15th, 2024, at St. Catherine Laboure Church, Derry Street, with a reception to follow. Rev. James Lease will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her long life. The family would like to thank the many dedicated care providers at Ecumenical Retirement Community and Lifesong Hospice for their warm attention to Josie. Donations in her memory to Lifesong Hospice Foundation and St. Catherine Laboure Church would be appreciated.
