Linda Ann Caniglia, 66 of Harrisburg passed away on April 12, 2023, at her home with her loving husband by her side along with family members and close friends.
Linda was the daughter of the late Joseph Samuel and Rose Bordonaro and was pre-deceased in death by her niece Nicole Bordonaro, nephew Joseph Michael Bordonaro, sister-in-law Jill Bordonaro, and father-in-law Francesco Caniglia. She is survived by her husband, Concetto (Frank) Caniglia; brother Joseph Bordonaro and his wife Rebecca; brother David Bordonaro; nephew Christopher Bordonaro; and mother-in-law Sebastiana (Nellie) Caniglia.
Linda began her career in 1975 in her hometown of New Castle, Pennsylvania before moving to Harrisburg. She ultimately retired from the position of Pennsylvania’s State Registrar in 2011 after an illustrious career that included providing testimony before Congress, serving on the board of the National Association of Public Health Statistics and Information Systems, authoring papers, and serving as a presenter at numerous national conferences.
Linda was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church in Harrisburg and volunteered as a CCD teacher. She was honored to serve as godmother for numerous children in her large circle of family and friends. Her affection for children was mutual, and she was the beloved “Aunt Linda” to countless children (and then their children).
Linda thoroughly enjoyed being in the kitchen, and her culinary skills were legendary. So many food specialties will never taste the same as when she lovingly prepared them. She planned the best parties, especially organizing children’s games. If Linda was at your table at a party, you knew you were at the “fun table.” And if there was a cookie table at a party, surely Linda was the mastermind behind it.
More than anything, Linda will be remembered for her kind heart, giving spirit and the love for life. She was loved by many, but none more than her devoted husband Frank. He was sometimes overheard whispering to Linda “I love you more than all the shells on the beach” to which she would instantly reply “and I love you more than all the stars in the sky.”
Linda’s family extends their sincere gratitude to friends, neighbors, the medical community and Hospice of Central Pennsylvania for the compassion and love given to our dear Linda.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11:00am in St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Leo M. Goodman III, Pastor, Celebrant. Burial at the conclusion of Mass will be in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00am in Neill Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Linda understood and mastered the art of gathering the family: great food, great wine, and great company. Linda's hospitality was unrivaled and the generosity and affection for her extended family is why our family reunions were and always will be legendary. I will miss her infectious laugh, how she seamlessly transitioned from conversation to conversation, and her amazing waltz around the kitchen spoiling us with every ounce of kindness and love she could offer. I will miss her.
