Luigi Francesco Leone, age 85 of Lower Paxton Township passed away on September 19, 2023 after enduring multiple health issues. He was born near Cosenza, Italy on February 10, 1938. Preceded in death by his father Pietro Rosario Leone and loving mother Assunta (Cairo). He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Erminia (Gaudio). He immigrated to the United States in 1968.
Loving father of two children Susan (Carlos) Correa of Pittsburgh, PA and the late Pietro (Clorinda) Leone of Harrisburg, PA.
Luigi was the deeply loved and proud grandfather of Alexander (Meredith), Michael, Julia Correa; Isabella and Luigi Leone who affectionally called him ‘Pop Pop.’
Luigi worked for 25 years at Iceland Seafood and Appleton Papers. He then opened two restaurants, Mama Leone Pizzeria in Marysville and then another in Harrisburg. He had a tremendous love of food, wine, and fellowship. He enjoyed spending his free time playing cards, tending to his beautiful vegetable garden, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He has left an indelible mark on his family's lives with his unwavering love and support. His absence will be deeply felt.
He was a truly remarkable and giving individual who touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. Family and friends will greatly miss his humble nature, his sense of humor, and joyous personality. His memory will be cherished by all those who knew him.
Luigi will be profoundly missed by his family and friends in the United States, Canada, and Italy. A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 23 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church from 9am to 11am. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11am, also at Holy Name of Jesus Church (6150 Allentown Boulevard, Harrisburg, PA 17112) with Reverend John Trigilio as celebrant. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mount St. Mary’s Seminary (Memo: St. Joseph; Address: 16300 Old Emmitsburg Rd. Emmitsburg, MD 21727).
