

Luis A. Garced Sr., 86, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his home. Born June 16, 1928, in Cidras, Puerto Rico; he was the son of the late Rogelio and Maximina (Suarez) Garced. Luis was a cook for the former Penn Harris Hotel and retired from the Elite Restaurant. He volunteered at the St. Francis Soup Kitchen, the Cursellos Movement and the DeColores; and was a Eucharistic Minister and member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Luis is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria Garced; 7 children, Luis A. Garced Jr., Ramon L. Garced, Carmen L. Diaz, Jose Miguel Garced, Gloria E. Garced, Anna H. Britt and Margarita Feliciano; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1439 Market St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, January 15, 2015 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA., 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
