She was born August 21, 1952 in Wilkes-Barre, PA; she was the daughter of the late Peter and Eleanor (Sheridan) Figler.
She is survived by her husband, Jonathan L. Witmer; her daughter, Karen E. Russo, husband, Pietro, of Annville; her son, Michael J. Witmer, wife, Kimberly, of Delaware, OH; 3 granddaughters, Adriana and Alessia Russo and Elizabeth Witmer; her sister, Margaret Wolfe, husband, Robert, of Cape May, NJ; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special pal, Buddy.
She attended OLBS School, where she was a cheerleader, and graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School, class of ’70, where she was a member of the National Honor Society; and graduated with high honors from Penn State University, class of ’78.
She retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot in 2006, and since then has worked part-time for the Capital Area Intermediate Unit as a special needs teacher.
She was a member of the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick and the Sweet Adeline’s of Greater Harrisburg.
Elaine enjoyed traveling, singing, and spending time with her sunshine girls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, November 30, 2012 in the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, 212 State St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
