Michael J. Butina Jr., 81, of West Hanover Township, Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024. Michael, lovingly known as “Mick”, graduated from John Harris HS, attended Shippensburg University and served in the Army National Guard. He spent his career in car sales as a manager for several local dealerships and as the owner of Mick Butina’s “Not-Nu” Car and Truck Sales.
Mick was a loving husband, father, grandfather (Pop Pop), and friend. He enjoyed sports and horse racing and was an avid Yankees, Detroit Lions, and Pitt fan. Mick played men’s softball as a pitcher for many years and devoted much time to coaching girls basketball for Holy Name of Jesus. He knew someone wherever he went and had a real knack for making you feel good in his presence. He will be remembered fondly and missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia “Ginny” Butina; a sister, Agnes Brennan; three children, Barbara Labe (Jeff), Barry Butina (Jana), and Michelle Elko (Mark); nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Labe (Lindsay), Benjamin Labe (Lauren), Nicholas Labe (Sarah), Nathaniel Labe (Kansas), Sarah McCollough (Cory), Brandon Butina (Hayley), Bartholomew McManus, Jaylin McManus, and Mathias Elko; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Adalee, Josie, and Penelope; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, from 6-8 pm, at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 22, at 11 am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg.
