He was born September 27, 1921 in Dark Water Twp, Schuylkill County, Pa. He was the son of the late Adam and Steffie (Goblick) Wabby; and preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Washuta) Wabby , his daughter Elaine C. Wabby and his brother Walter Wabby.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Anne S. Lindsey of Harrisburg and Janet L. Hall, of Highspire; a son, Fredric M. Wabby, of Southern California; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Michael enlisted in the United States Army in 1944. He served in WWII with the 2nd Infantry Division and landed on the beaches of Normandy France on June 7, 1944 D-Day +1. He was a true Patriot, he was proud of his military service and considered it an honor to serve his country. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, socializing and reminiscing with friends and attending Bavarian dances. He often captivated others with stories of his experiences in World War II. He was an active member of his church and was always willing to help others and contributed to countless charities.
He was a member of the Lawnton American Legion Post 998, Penbrook VFW Post 1718, Bavarian Festival Association, Lancaster Liederfrantz, and the St. Lawrence Lodge # 13, Steelton.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
