On May 4, 2022, Carl K. Spackman passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Carl was born May 8, 1941 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. In 1964 he married Helen M. Oliver in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Carl leaves behind his wife Helen of 57 years, three children, Brent Spackman, Laura Zimmerman, and Lynn Peters, as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Carl received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Toronto Bible College in 1963, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Waterloo Lutheran University in 1965. He earned a Master of Divinity degree and Doctorate of Ministry degree from Westminster Theological Seminary. As part of his D. Min. degree he wrote a book called, “Parents Passing On the Faith”. Over a 48 year period, Carl served as a Pastor in Mount Carmel Bible Fellowship Church (BFC), Maple Glen BFC, Cumberland Valley Brethren In Christ (BIC), Carlisle BIC, and finally retired from Grace BFC in Harrisburg after 11 years of service. In 2002, Carl and his wife Helen became US citizens.
At age 18 Carl worked on a railway driving tiles and from that experience developed a lasting love of the power and graceful beauty of the Canadian National trains rolling down the tracks. Carl was a talented painter and artist. Carl loved to use his artistic skills with his Railway Gang for a very impressive H.O. Gauge model train layout of a recreation of a Canadian National Railway in the basement of his home every other Monday. He had a passion for gardening and yardwork, plants and flowers and trees. He loved to play and watch various sports. As a young man he would play ice hockey at his birthplace of Stratford Ontario, Canada. He also loved to read (commentaries and many other books) and loved to travel. He has traveled to India, Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Kazikstan and of course he was born in Canada. On his 45th wedding anniversary on a Rock Mountaineer trip across the north west of Canada.
Although he will be deeply missed, his impact for the Kingdom Of God lives on as we can all rejoice in the knowledge that he with his Savior Jesus. Carl's impact on the lives of so many people and his legacy of love and commitment to the love of God will live on in the hearts of all of us who are left behind.
