Robert “Bob” Stewart Correll Jr., of Harrisburg, passed away surrounded by family on November 23, 2025 at the age of 83. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Robert S. Correll Sr. and the late Margaret (Graffius) Correll. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Torchia) Correll, and infant daughter Deborah Correll, both of whom he loved deeply and missed every day. He is survived by three children - Thomas Correll (Tammie) of Harrisburg, Michael Correll (Sara Beth) of Hershey, and Jennifer (Correll) Rife of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren -Nathan Correll (Brandy), Joel Correll (Alex), Ambyr Correll, Bella Correll, Luca Correll, Andrew Rife, Katherine Rife, and Joshua Rife; four great-grandchildren McKenzie, Madison, Skyler, and Sophia; and one great-great granddaughter Mila. He is also survived by his siblings Gary Correll (Cookie), Craig Correll (Debbie), and Karen Correll (Sue).
To say Bob was a Penn State fan would be an understatement. He bled blue and white. For decades, he found pure joy on Saturdays in Happy Valley - perfecting tailgate menus, feeding countless students, and cheering on his beloved Nittany Lions with infectious enthusiasm as the “Cat in the Hat Man.” He was, in every sense, a kid at heart.
The most creative inventors are the ones who never quite grow up, and Bob embodied that spirit completely. A graduate of Penn State’s Berks Campus, Bob went on to have a highly distinguished career, starting as a Machine Designer, and ultimately retiring from TE Connectivity (AMP, Incorporated) as a Principal Engineer. His curiosity, imagination, and perseverance resulted in 17 patent awards, and leaving a lasting mark on the countless professionals he mentored and inspired along the way.
Bob’s life was full of family, fun, creativity, food (always food), and Penn State pride. Those who loved him will remember his endless curiosity, his animated storytelling, and the immense pride he had in his children.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday December 2nd at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service
