He was born January 18, 1960 in Alexandria, WV; he was the son of the late Marlin and Betty Jo (Horne) Markel.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Denalu (Forsyth) Markel; two sons, Lee Markel and Jeremy Markel, both of Ocean City, MD; daughter, Susan Lynn Soto, of Harrisburg; 4 grandchildren, Melena Soto, Melisa Soto, Marcus Soto and Mariah Soto; and brother, Walter Markel, of TN.
Known as "Uncle Bob" to many, loved NASCAR and time well spent with his family.
Bob was an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, served in the U.S. Army, and graduate of the former John Harris High School, class of 1977.
Funeral Service will be held 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. A viewing will be held from 7:00 PM till the time of the service at the funeral home
