Ruth Elizabeth (Betty) Patton

Betty Patton peacefully passed away on February 18, 2018 at Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg. She was born in Baltimore, MD on December 31, 1930 to the late Reverend Albert S. and Ruth (Cavanaugh) Asendorf. She was also predeceased by her brother, A. William Asendorf. Betty graduated from State College High School and Penn State University, with a dietetics internship at Duke University. After graduating she worked as a hospital dietician. She married Gilbert R. Patton Jr in 1953 and was widowed in 1979. While raising her family, she enjoyed volunteering at church especially cooking in the kitchen, and in various community organizations. She will be remembered as a Girl Scout Leader by many. Betty and her husband opened the Framers’ Workshop in 1977 where she enjoyed meeting and helping customers for 31 years. She is survived by her children G. Reeder Patton III and wife Lisa, Susan E. Sanders and husband Scott, D.Craig Patton and wife Mary, William A. Patton and wife Tarice; grandchildren Christie Toto (Tom), Michael Patton, Sam Vranicar (Dana), Zach Sturman, Bradley Sanders (Colleen), Emily Nordfors (Jim), Laura Berkheimer (Corey), Katie Ritchie (Chris), Jake, Dean, Gib, Lee, Reed, June, Anne Patton; fifteen great grandchildren, brother Donald A. Asendorf and wife Betty, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 10:00 AM, at Paxton Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg where she was a long time member. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
