Thomas Anthony Plasic, 87, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Born October 16, 1925 in Steelton, Pennsylvania, Tom was the youngest of five children. Tom owned and operated a Mobile Station in Harrisburg before retiring from Bethlehem Steel. Tom was a long time member of St, Catherine Laboure, a member of the Steelton VFW Post 710, Knights of Columbus, and a former Democratic Committee member. Tom was a US Navy veteran and served during WWII on LST 781 where he was a Signalman, Second Class. He was very proud of his service to his country and enjoyed telling stories of his time in the Navy. His stories will live on forever. He loved spending time with his family, and hunting with his beagles. And, he was very proud of his Croatian heritage.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mae Christ Plasic, his sister Ann Swoger, and brothers John and Tony. Tom is survived by his son Martin of Oberlin and daughter Cindy McNaughton and husband Francis, of Harrisburg; grandchildren Joel McNaughton and his Jennifer, Adam McNaughton; and great-grandchildren Brittany, Joel Jr., and Landon all of Harrisburg; a sister Stephania Matincheck of Middletown and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday April 10, 2013 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, with family visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
