

William J. Sakelaris, 82, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Friday, January 1, 2016 at Greenfield Senior Living, Harrisburg. He was born March 29, 1933, in Ano Hora, Greece; he was the son of the late John William and Aglaia (Kapordelis) Sakelaris. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, and a granddaughter, Angel Sakelaris. He moved to the United States when he was 19 years old. He was a businessman and entrepreneur owning several businesses over his lifetime, most notably he was the founder and former owner of the Fisherman's Warf which he opened in 1976. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anthula (Tarabicos) Sakelaris; daughter, Anna Sakelaris; son, John Sakelaris, wife Linda Sakelaris: daughter Alice Brandt, husband Gregg Brandt, all of Harrisburg; six grandchildren; Keith Carter, Kristopher Carter, William J. Sakelaris, Alexa Sakelaris, Michael Brandt, and Adam Brandt; three great-grandchildren, Kristian Carter, Romy Carter, and Alyssa Carter; two brothers; Aleko Sakelaris and Kosta Sakelaris. William loved spending time with his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were most important to him. He loved to travel the world, not only to his home country of Greece but also the United States, Caribbean Islands, Mexico and Europe. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 4, 2016 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM Monday until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill.
