Alice Ellis Pomroy Reedy

She was born on January 25, 1916, in Jefferson County, WV, and was the daughter of the late Spencer and Lula Costello Pomroy.

Alice had been employed with H. D. Lee, Metro Pants, and Sancar. She was the owner operator of Alice’s Restaurant in Harrisonburg before she retired.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, James E. Ellis and E. Reedy; a son, James L. Ellis; and a grandson, Ellis Lee Hunter.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Armstrong and husband, Marvin, of Harrisonburg, Stromie Ellis and wife, Donna, of White Plains, MD, Michael Ellis and wife, Miriam, of Harrisonburg, Spencer Ellis of San Diego, CA, and Sandy McMeans and husband, William, of Staunton; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucy Watts, Erma Reiley, and Dorothy Shackelford.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Charlene Landes Mears officiating.
