I met Mrs. Talley through her granddaughter, Zinah, a few years ago. I was immediately struck by her incredibly witty sense of humor. We were sitting at Zinah's dining room table, sharing stories and laughter as she proceeds to pull out a giant bottle of Jack Daniel's and Coke. She looked at me and said "Where's yours?" I knew right then that this woman was a force all to her own. I will miss her dearly.

My grandmother Alva Doris Talley, was the best grandmother anyone could ask for and one of the most interesting people I have ever met. She always had a smile on her face and was happy to see us grandkids. Our family was known as the F-troop when we visited her and grandpop at their home in Ohio. Every summer when we would visit, Gram would always kick us outside to play no matter how hot it was so we did not mess up her house. She would often yell "stop running in and out my house!" (lol) She had many catch phases that she adopted over the years. Maybe you have heard some of them? Such as "I ain't going to let y'all worry me" or "Keep on living you'll find out."

She had the best sense of humor and was always quick with a witty response. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends by playing cards, having a few laughs, and drinks. Everyone who met Alva Doris Talley would comment on her great sense of humor. I loved when she would share memories of her childhood, playing softball, and trying to keep up with her brothers. She told the story of how her mom saved money to build their childhood home, and stories about our grandfather. Just as Gram kept grandpop's memory alive with us all after he was gone, we will continue their legacy with all of our loved ones.

Gram please rest in peace next to grandpop with love.

Mrs. Talley was like a mother to me, i did little jobs around the house for her and in return she would cook one of those good home cooked meals. She came into my life through her daughter Kim. They came into my life at my lowest point and to this day if it were not for Mrs.Talley and Kim and the rest of that family I may not even be here. And I thank the Lord for him bringing Mrs. Doris Talley into my life. My love and prayers go out to the family God bless you all I will miss her dearly.

Talley Family, you have my condolences on the loss of your Mother. I remember you as neighbors growing up in Jefferson Township, before you moved. I hope your loving memories of your Mother will see you through as you mourn. God bless and comfort you.

I remember Aunt Doris and Uncle Raymond offering me a job at their charter bus company when I moved back home. She showed me the ropes quick, fast and in a hurry. Back then she smoked cigarettes. She would have a cigarette in her mouth and both hands moving fast to go through those invoices. I caught on quick because she did not play. She would glance over at me sternly at first and then smile a little bit.
