Ann Lou Dillard Tutwiler

Sanford was born in Rockingham County on July 17, 1931 and was the son of the late Robert L. and Mary Wenger Tutwiler. He was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County.

Ann Lou was born February 7, 1934 in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Walter “Bud” and Ann Johnson Dillard. She resided in the same home her entire life.

Both enjoyed good health up to the last five years of their life.

Sanford attended Keezletown High School. He served in the U.S. Army on the front lines during the Korean War and held the rank of Sergeant when he was honorably discharged. He was a Line Foreman for HEC for 37 years and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1686.

Ann Lou graduated from Bridgewater High School and attended James Madison University, formerly Madison College. She worked as a Postal Clerk and was a Secretary for Harrisonburg City Schools.

Both were members of St. James United Methodist Church in Pleasant Valley.

They are survived by a son, Thomas Paul Tutwiler of Alexandria, VA.

Other than their son, both were the last surviving members of their immediate family.

Sanford is preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Tutwiler and Dwight Tutwiler; and a sister Mary Presgrave.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at St. James United Methodist Church, Pleasant Valley.
