Arminna Frances Washington Fitzwater

She was born on December 23, 1929 in Brandywine, WV and was the daughter of the late Henry and Lena Scott Washington.

Arminna retired from Village Inn after many years as head housekeeper. After retiring she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved working outside, mowing and gardening. She grew tomatoes every summer to share with family, friends and neighbors.

On May 19, 1950 she married Stanford B. Fitzwater, who preceded her in death on May 22, 1974.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane Heatwole and husband, David; a son, Glenn Fitzwater and wife, Penny, all of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Custer and husband, Joe, of Harrisonburg, Sue Long and husband, Larry of McGaheysville; a brother, Jerry Washington and wife, Lois, of Grottoes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Michael Fallin. Private burial will be held at a later date.
