Bette Elizabeth Hudson

Bette Jean Hudson, 71, of Harrisonburg passed away on Saturday afternoon August 1, 2026, after being in hospice care at Blue Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation. Miss Hudson had been fighting cancer for quite some time.

Bette graduated from Turner Ashby H.S. in 1973 and attended Eastern Mennonite College. She worked many years with her parents at Hudson Garden Center. Bette was also known locally for her art and craft work.

Bette Jean is survived by her mother, Gloria V. Hudson of Harrisonburg, her sister, Diane Gerard of Mobile, Alabama, brother-in-law, Joe Gerard, and her niece, Amber E. Gerard of Washington D.C.

Her mother and sister wish to thank Michael Taylor and Tanya Long of Harrisonburg and longtime friends for hours of bedside companionship in Bette Jean’s final weeks.

Bette will be laid to rest at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

A memorial service will be held later in the fall when family members are able to attend.
