I had the privilege of working with Dr Smith at Norfolk General for many years. He was so good with patients and coworkers alike. When I walked in the O.R. And saw that Dr. Smith was part of the team I knew it would be a good day. Rest In Peace special man.

I have such fond memories of Dr Smith, when I worked at Norfolk General. He was a wonderful man, teacher and anesthesiologist. I would take the stairs up to the OR and I’d smell his cigar, it always made me smile. Rest In Peace, and God bless. With deepest condolences

Dr. Smith was my dad's colleague from the earliest days of their practice in Norfolk. On many occasions I heard my dad speak fondly of 'Bob Smith' and it was clear that he held him in the highest possible professional and personal regard. Theirs was an era of a strong work ethic and professional dedication and I'd venture to say it was instrumental in creating the medical excellence which we now take for granted.

Warm regards to his family and Godspeed Dr. Smith.

I am so sorry to read of the passing of Dr. Bob. I know he will be missed by many people. He was such a generous man that gave so freely to others. One of my favorite memories is our time celebrating Veterans Day festivities together.
