Bruce Allen Leffel

He was born on December 30, 1938 and was the son of the late John and Myrtle Bruce Leffel.

Bruce lived his entire life in Harrisonburg. He graduated from Madison College (now James Madison University), where he played basketball for the Dukes. Bruce retired from Walker Manufacturing in 1997 after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a former member of the Local Army National Guard and was also a member of Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene.

Bruce was a very kind, humble individual who always had a listening ear. He loved to cook, work in his flower gardens and most of all, loved his family and dogs, Mazy and Gipper. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Hopkins Leffel; a daughter, Tammy Lee Leffel of New Market; a son, Todd Allen Leffel and fiancée, Billie Jo Borror of Harrisonburg; a sister Wanda Gooden and husband, Buddy of Harrisonburg; and a brother, Brent Leffel and wife Diana of Elkton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Mannasmith.

The family will receive friends, 6 – 8:00 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jim Harrison and Pastor Roger Dove officiating.
