A daughter of Carol Harman Long and the late Franklin Page Long, she was born on Nov. 16, 1954, in Harrisonburg and lived all of her life in Rockingham County. Cathy attended Turner Ashby High School and was formerly employed at Amp Inc. and Rockingham County Fairgrounds. She was a member of Martin Lutheran Church in Brandywine, W.Va., and most recently attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mount Solon. She was also a member of the former Harrisonburg Moose Lodge.
Cathy was a giver of many things and loved sharing with her family. She loved to draw, play games, sing and had played the guitar in her earlier years. She also enjoyed the outdoors in her younger years playing softball, camping and fishing. One of her favorite places and pastimes was spending the day at the home place in West Virginia.
She is survived by her mother, Carol Harman Long of Bridgewater; two sisters, Brenda K. Long of Dayton and Glenda G. Long of Bridgewater; a niece, Miranda Mercado and husband, Victor, of Dayton; a nephew, Jeremy Shull and wife, Martha, of Mount Solon; great-nieces and nephews, Mariah, Christian and Nicolas Smith, Garrett and Sadie Shull; a great-great-niece, Kendall Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends at her Bridgewater residence at any time. At her request, her body will be cremated at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg and a graveside service will be held at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandywine, W.Va.
