

He was born in Harrisonburg on November 3, 1931 and was the son of the late Tracy T. and Madalene Eye Misner.
Charles served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and was an appliance repairman for J. O. Stickley and Sons for 30 plus years before retiring.
On December 6, 1991 he married Dorothy Lightner Misner, who survives.
He is survived by his step children, John Lightner, III and wife, Yvette, of Hartville, OH, Susan Hottel and husband, Ed, and Tommy Lightner and wife, Cookie, all of Harrisonburg; a sister, Mary Misner Phillips of Harrisonburg; two nieces, Susan Wilkins and Patty Wallslager and husband, Tom; and a nephew, John Lindsay.
Charles was an avid outdoorsman and also enjoyed bowling.
The family will receive friends 1-2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., following the visitation, with Pastor Kay Gentry officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with military rites provided by the Dayton American Legion, Post #27.
