She was the first of six children born to the late Charlotte Blakey Whitelow and Clarence Theodore Whitelow, Sr. on February 1, 1960, in Harrisonburg. Christine grew up with the comradery of a host of cousins and was nurtured with love and discipline shared by uncles and aunts amid two large extended family traditions, the Blakeys and the Whitelows.
Christine shared her talents and skills, humorous wit, and classy demeanor with all. She was employed by the city of Harrisonburg Public Works Department for a period. She also practiced the art of hair styling having graduated from the Harrisonburg School of Beauty. She was Co-owner and licensed hair stylist at "Simply Beautiful Salon" downtown. She was a proud member of the Harrisonburg High School Class of 1978.
Christine expressed early in life her belief in the Historical Man, Jesus the Christ. Growing to understand the meaning of His life she embraced a developing faith in the Resurrected Christ. She became a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church, serving in different roles and various responsibilities. She also served as chairperson with the Simms School Reunion Committee.
Christine was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Clarence T. Whitelow, Jr.; and a sister, Constance S. Whitelow.
Christine leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her loss, a daughter, Ckye Ryan Whitelow; a grandson, Cyid Rakim Justice- Whitelow, and a great-grandson, Cyid Malcolm Justice-Whitelow; two brothers, Courtney Whitelow and Carlyle C. Whitelow (Wilma); and a sister, Cynthia Marie Whitelow; two uncles, Joseph T. Blakey, Pottstown, PA, and Wilson E. Blakey, McGaheysville, VA; and three aunts, Linda Whitelow Ferrell, Sarah B. Sampson, and Elaine T. Blakey, all of Harrisonburg; a host of cousins, other family members and a wonderfully supportive friend, Felicia Banks Thomas.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm at John Wesley United Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John Wesley United Methodist Church.
