Clarice Smith Pye

Clarice was born October 29, 1918 in Kaymore, West Virginia, but she always proudly considered Singers Glen her home. She lived there from age 2 for over 60 years. Clarice was a long time member of the Singers Glen Baptist Church. Clarice was the daughter of Clarence & Bessie Lee Smith and the granddaughter of Melinda & John I. Lee, also from Singers Glen. She survived her two sisters, Dorothy Rock and Mildred Early. Clarice was known locally working with her former husband of 37 years WH Pye in his many restaurants and she then went on to work at IMCO/Brockway in Harrisonburg until her retirement.

Clarice is survived by 4 children, her son Robert Pye & his wife Joanne of Chittenden, Vermont and her daughters, Nancy Lively & her husband Billy of Annapolis, MD, Doris Pye & her husband Ron Wyancko of Harrisonburg, and Joyce Funston & her husband Gary of Charlottesville, VA. Clarice was G’ma Pye to her grandsons Theron Shipe of Richmond, VA, Matthew Funston of Washington DC and David Wyancko of Abingdon, VA. Her granddaughters are Melinda Jennings of Annandale, Lara Levine of Portland, OR and Brittany Pye of Vermont. Clarice also had 5 great-grandchildren—great-grandsons Dylan Hess of Richmond, Lincoln and Felix Levine of Portland OR and great-granddaughters Madison and Daley Jennings of Annandale, VA.

Friends are welcome to attend a brief memorial service at her gravesite located in the Singers Glen Cemetery on Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 at 1:00 pm.
