D. Dean Wescott

A son of the late Oscar and Nellie Hopkins Wescott, he was born on October 30, 1937 in Singers Glen, VA.

Mr. Wescott lived his entire life in the Singers Glen and Harrisonburg areas and graduated from Harrisonburg High School. After high school, he played minor league baseball, and was employed with the Safeway grocery store. He later enjoyed selling real estate after his retirement.

He was a member of the Singers Glen United Methodist Church, B.P.O.E. #450 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4150 Aerie.

He was honored recently when he was inducted into the Harrisonburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

On July 20, 1957 he married the former Janet Crantz, who preceded him in death on April 2, 2005.

Surviving are two sons, Bret Lee Wescott and fiancé Crys Roach, of Harrisonburg, Terry Hal Wescott and wife, Michelle, of Bridgewater; and two grandchildren, Chad and Lauren Kate Wescott. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Wescott will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial in the Singers Glen Cemetery will be held at a later date.
