

He was born August 10, 1934 in New York, and was the son of the late Theodore and Myra Phelps Fox of Dansville, NY.
David lived 48 years in the Bridgewater, VA and Harrisonburg, VA area. He received a BS in Elementary Education from the State University of New York-Geneseo in 1957. He also received a Master of Arts Degree in 1958 and a Doctor of Education Degree in 1967 from Columbia University of New York. David was a member of PHI Beta Kappa and a lifetime member of PHI Delta Kappa. David proudly served eleven years as a commissioned 1st Lt. in the National Guard in New York State. He retired after 20 years of service from James Madison University where he was a Professor of Education. David was a long standing member of Trout Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Fox; a daughter, Susan F. Heath and husband, Jeffery, of Hot Springs, AR; a son, Steven D. Fox and wife, Debra, of Keswick, VA; and four grandchildren, Katie M. Heath, Austin S. Fox, Carson D. Fox, and Colton L. Fox.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
