Dolores Jane Maddox

Dolores “Dill” Jane Davis Maddox, 85, a resident of Harrisburg, PA, and formerly of Keezletown, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Spring Creek Nursing Home in Harrisburg where she has resided for the last nine years.

She was born in Harrisonburg on July 16, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Alfonso Bennett and Madie J. Davis, and step-daughter of the late Deward Harris.

She graduated from L. F. Simms High School and attended Virginia State and West Virginia State Colleges. She had been employed by the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, PA, the Department of Health and Welfare in Harrisburg, PA, the US Postal Service in New York City and AMP, Inc. in Weyers Cave.

Dill loved to play music, dance and spend time with family and friends.

Dill is survived by a devoted longtime friend, Roland Williams of Harrisonburg; cousins, Carol and Davis Bradley of Harrisburg, PA, and Zelma Watson, of Easton, PA, numerous friends and other cousins in the Elkton area.

The family will receive friends on 11:00 am – 12 Noon, Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Chapel of Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. A funeral service will follow at Noon with Minister Tony Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Newtown Cemetery.
