Donald James Sommerville

He was born on August 20, 1939 in Highland Park, Illinois and was the son of the late James and Dorothy Wysocky Sommerville.

Donald graduated from the University of Illinois with a business degree in communications and the University of Detroit with a Master’s in Economics. He also served in the US Marine Corp, where he was a captain for six years. He retired as Vice President of Sales at ComSonics for over 19 years. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and his Bernese Mountain dogs, “Teddy” and “Bella Mae”.

On July 15, 1995 he married Lynne Cal Skowronski Sommerville, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Donald James Sommerville, Jr., of Harrisonburg, a daughter, Dawn S. Pogreba and husband, Ed, of Tysons Corner, a son, David Scott Sommerville and wife, Denise, of New York City, NY; four grandchildren, Donnie Sommerville of Harrisonburg, Thomas Nicholas and Abigail Rose Pogreba of Tysons Corner, and Scott Anthony Sommerville, of New York City, NY.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Keith Hulton officiating. Private entombment will be held in the mausoleum at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites by Dayton American Legion Post #27.
