

She was the daughter of the late Randolph and Grace Lambert Robinson, and was born on April 22, 1929 in Clover Hill, Virginia.
Doris lived her entire life in the Harrisonburg area and was a graduate of Mt. Clinton High School and Dunsmore Business College. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family and helping others. She also filled many roles over the years in the family business, Whetzel’s Wholesale. Doris was an active member of the Mt. Clinton United Methodist Church.
On March 3, 1949 she married David O. Whetzel, Jr. who preceded her in death on January 25, 2014.
She is survived by three children, Diane Knight and husband, Bill, of Gloucester, VA, Vicky Arbogast and husband, Mike, and Lisa Sumption and husband, Jim all of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, Marie Domin, David Knight, Joseph Arbogast and Daniel Arbogast; and one great granddaughter, Macey Marie Domin; one brother, Roland Robinson and wife, Shirley, of Buena Vista, VA; one sister, Linda Good and husband, Ronnie, of Simpsonville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Baker, Kitty Pangle and Betty Long; brothers, Robert, Lawrence and Larry Robinson.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Redbud at Crestwood for the loving care they gave their mother.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm, on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 28, 2015 at Mount Clinton United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew Peck-McClain officiating. Burial will be private.
