

She was born in Harrisonburg on November 13, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Nellie Gray Derrer.
Dorothy was a graduate of Keezletown High School before moving to Harrisonburg. She worked for Gitchells Studio for 16 years. In 1956 she went into retailing for Leggett Department Store, where she was a buyer until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the Adult Sunday School Class.
In April 1946, she married Arthur W. Richards who preceded her in death in 1980. In 1984 she married James F. Lampe who also preceded her in death in 2008.
She is survived by two step daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Ray Dingledine III of Richmond and Barbara and Ed Kyle of Roanoke; six step-grandchildren, Ray Dingledine IV and wife, Kim, Sarah Dingledine, Will Callahan, Erin Wolf and husband, Jay, Kristen and Sean Kyle; five step great-grandchildren, Ray “Quint” Dingledine V, Talon Dingledine, Logan, Wyatt and Abby Wolf; a favorite niece and nephew, Bonnie and Cricket Simmons and another niece, Shelby Hallback.
The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Adam Blagg officiating. Entombment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
