
He was born on November 9, 1924 in Long Island, NY, and was the son of the late Francis C. Tatem, Sr. and Margaret Smith Tatem.
Father Tatem graduated from Westbury High School, Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, and attended Swarthmore College; he received his Masters of Divinity from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. He was a member of The Society of St. John the Evangelist in Cambridge, MA. He retired from St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he had served as rector. He and his wife worshipped and served at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Harrisonburg.
On July 14, 1953 he married, Ann Haldeman Tatem, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Hilary Hepper and husband, Raymond, of Longmeadow, MA, Hannah Mismar and husband, Mohammad, of Amman, Jordon, Thomas Tatem and wife, Anne, of Kensington, MD, Thaddeus Tatem of Bethesda, MD, and Cecilia Small and husband, W. David, of Maynard, MA; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, William and Robert Tatem; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Virginia Tatem and a brother-in-law, Paul David Haldeman.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, July 13, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Bishop Light officiating.
