Genaro Hernandez

He was born on January 7, 1984 in Houston, TX and is the son of Gregorio Sosa and Virginia E. Hernandez of Harrisonburg.

Genaro moved to Harrisonburg in 1989 and graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 2002. He enjoyed his job with Staunton Redevelopment Housing Authority. He had a zest for life and putting his family first; he loved to fish, ride his motorcycles, cooking on the grill and making people laugh. He was the ultimate story teller who will be loved and missed by many, FOREVER. He was young, wild and free.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Gabriel Hernandez-Hollifield, Hugo Hernandez-Hollifield, Khloe Hernandez and Tradon Hollifield; three brothers, Juan Hernandez of Bridgewater, Gregorio Sosa-Hernandez, and Severiano Sosa-Hernandez; two sisters, Michele Hernandez and Stephanie Sosa-Hernandez, all of Harrisonburg; two nephews, Elijah Hernandez and Kavelli Banks; two nieces, Lilliana Hernandez and Kalaylah Banks; grandparents, Candelaria Hernandez, Tince Sosa and Justina Hernandes. He was preceded in death by a grandfather ‘Eusebio Lizama, and a brother, Hugo Sosa-Hernandez.

The family will receive friends 4-8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A graveside service at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens will be held 3:30 PM, Wednesday, July 9.
