Henry (Toby) Tobler, III

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg.

Toby was born on February 4, 1938 in Hackensack, NJ to the late Henry Tobler, Jr. and Helene Tulp Tobler. After graduating from Hopewell High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in finance from Virginia Commonwealth University. In his early career, he worked as a math teacher, then he applied his lifelong love of technology to being a computer programmer. He also enjoyed good food, design, art, and collecting. An independent thinker, he was endlessly curious about new ideas and people, and brought an expansive outlook to everything he was passionate about.

Toby is survived by his daughters Anna Tobler and Mary Tobler, his sons-in-law Robert Ware and Max Minzner, and his grandchildren Mary Lawrence Ware, Twyla Ware, Jay Minzner, and Grace Minzner; he was preceded in death by his son Henry J. Tobler (Jay).
