Jack Kurwood Hevener, 82, of Timberville passed away on May 6, 2023, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehab where he had been living for the past year because of Alzheimer’s. He was a veteran of the US Army and National Guard.
He was born in Dorcas, WV on July 12, 1940 to the late Helen Virginia Hevener and Ersel Kerwood Bucklew.
On January 29, 1966, he married the former Nancy Mae Dean, who preceded him in death on September 15, 2015.
Jack is survived by two daughters, Cindy and Roger Turner, Kim and Tommy Branner; four grandsons, James and Alizabeth Sonifrank, Zach Wilkins, Noah Martin and partner Murphy Mogwai, and Charlie Branner; two great grandchildren, Ella and Bruce Sonifrank; and a special cousin, who he considered his sister, Susan Blaine.
Jack was a life-long musician. It gave him much pleasure to play music in nursing homes, family gatherings and church. He was a member of Timberville Nazarene Church for most of his life.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Timberville Church of the Nazarene Church. Pastor Todd Thomas officiating.
