He was born on March 22, 1938, and was the son of the late Elmer and Valley V. Flick Landis.
James was a lifelong resident of Harrisonburg, graduating in 1956 from Harrisonburg High School and working for the US Postal Service for more than 20 years.
He is survived by Betty Dovel of Weyers Cave, Kitty Lennox of Arlington, Thomas and Stephen Flick both of Crimora, Barbara Payne of Roanoke, Jennifer Landis Herman of Newport News, and Judy Blaner of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Landis.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 8, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, with Jennifer Landis Herman officiating.
