

He was born on September 23, 1934 in Shenandoah, and was the son of the late Ausby Otto and Reba Leigh Price.
James grew up in Shenandoah and lived the majority of his adult life in Harrisonburg. He was a truck driver for Good’s Transfer, Maphis-Chapman, and also worked for R. S. Monger and Son, for the last 30 years he was a self employed painter and carpenter. He thoroughly enjoyed carpentry and painting. He was also a member of the Rocktown Apostolic Church.
On April 1, 1978 he married Betty Humphrey Price, who survives.
He is also survived by his children, Gary L. Price of Harrisonburg, Barbara Villalobos of Elkton, Susan Price of Waynesboro, Frank Price of Eyota, MN, Kenneth Price of Harrisonburg, six step-children, Donna K. Hensley of Shenandoah, Wanda Hensley of Dayton, Carolyn Armentrout of Mt. Crawford, Randolph Hensley of Harrisonburg, Lynn Hensley of McGaheysville, and June Boren of Manassas; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lou Sampson of Penn Laird, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, James F. Price, Jr. and a step-son, Nick Hensley; four sisters, Helen Dallas, Frances Morris, Florence Comer, and Virginia Emery.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:30 PM, Friday evening, February 11, 2011 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 12, at the Chapel of the funeral home, with Rev. Jeremy Poling and Pastor G. L. Price officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship United Methodist Church Cemetery.
